Thank you for considering a gift to support IBCF.
The International Buddhist Chaplains Foundation is committed to serving Buddhist Chaplains in support of their social and humanitarian work worldwide. The Buddhist tradition of service goes back almost 2,500 years and continues to provide spiritual care and counseling for those seeking it, work that is especially important and necessary today. We are solely supported by your generosity. Your donations go toward supporting our programs and projects, as well as cover administrative costs, labor, travel, and other expenses.

SERVICE
In addition to grants and scholarships, our programs are geared toward building an infrastructure that supports the education and professionalization of Buddhist Chaplaincy. Our aim is to provide resources, research assistance, and consultation to our partners. Our current projects include creating a international database of Buddhist chaplains, educators, students, scholars, counselors, supervisors, and others, so that we could map our rapidly expanding field. This is important to discern the demand side and inform the supply side of academia and employment sectors, as well as infer the spiritual pulse of our communities.

PROMOTION
Although the Buddhist tradition of service goes back a long way, Buddhist social workers and counselors do not receive their due credit. Part of the reason has to do with Buddhists not seeking it. Another reason is simply a lack of promotion. Our goal is to shine light on the good work that Buddhists have been doing. Our projects include conducting a series of video interviews of Buddhist leaders, practitioners, monastics, teachers, scholars, and students to reveal the mosaic of a dynamic Buddhist service tradition. Related, but on a larger scale, we are planning to film a feature-length documentary to showcase stories of compassion, generosity, and selflessness that are happening everyday but are not seen in the headlines.

ADVOCACY
Our advocacy programs include building community relations and forming lasting partnerships. While we want our voice to be heard, we understand that the best way to amplify that voice is as a collective. Because we are all interconnected, progress is best achieved working with others. One of our current and most imperative advocacy missions is lobbying the state of California for Buddhist inclusion and equity within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. As of this writing, only five faiths are officially recognized. We feel that needs to change.
